Montenegro cities

Montenegro has two very original cities: Cetinje and Kotor. Cetinje became the capital of Montenegro at the end of the 15th century and remained such until 1946. During the wars of liberation against the Turks it could not expand; it remained practically unchanged around the fortified monastery. The city developed in harmony with the consolidation of the new State of Montenegro: it reached considerable prosperity after the Congress of Berlin. Its administrative, diplomatic, cultural and military functions compelled it to adopt modern rational townplanning, with aqueducts, central power stations, gardens and squares. Thus a, city was born following the European model. Today it is linked by motorways to Kotor and Podgorica.

Coastal towns

The city of Herceg Novi is strategically located at the entrance of Boka Kotorska, one of the most beautiful bays on the Adriatic see and at the foot of the slopes of Orjen (1892m).
Budva and the region around it was more populated in ancient times and today you can still see traces of Greek, Roman, Venitian and Turkish culture and monuments. Budva Riviera is small, but has 28 beaches, each of which shows their special charm. The scenery is beautiful and nature is not yet polluted as tourism has only just begon.
A great number of historical monuments have made Perast an UNESCO listed “World Natural and Historical Heritage Site". Perast is trully a jewel of Montenegro and Mediterannean, with its cultural heritage, medieval architecture and fantastic surrounding scenery.
